What’s the Best Lush Lip Balm? Reviewing 6 Options

I’ve been purchasing Lush products on and off for years and amongst those products are their lip balms. I’m such a sucker for the cute little tins even if they’re not the most hygienic option! Here’s my review of their current lip balm collection (including a discontinued balm), ranked from the worst to the best in my opinion.

Honey Trap
Originally recommended to me by a Lush employee as a “customer favourite”, this balm has a pleasant faint honey and slightly minty scent. Unfortunately something in it does not agree with me and the balm feels very uncomfortable on my lips. I’ve been using it as cuticle cream instead (and the performance is actually quite acceptable).

None of Your Beeswax
As its name suggests, this balm does not contain beeswax and is therefore vegan-friendly. The lemon scent is lovely and I had great hopes for this balm as a result, but I’m not a fan of the noticeable bitter taste and it’s not too moisturising either.

Rose Lollipop
The lightest in texture and I love the soft rose scent, but I don’t find it to be very moisturising at all as it tends to just sit on top of the lips. Rose Lollipop only ranks fourth because of the scent, as otherwise it would be below None of your Beeswax.

Lip Service
Lip Service the richest and most moisturising lip balm from Lush. It works wonders as an overnight lip treatment and has a faint orange scent, which I like, but I find it a bit “boring” compared to other options. That said, if you’re looking for a no frills lip balm for dry lips, you can’t go wrong with this one. It’s also great for cuticles, elbows, or any dry patches.

Whipstick
I bought Whipstick again just before Lush discontinued it about two years ago. Texture wise it’s second to Lip Service and comparable to Honey Trap. I love its chocolate orange scent and find it very moisturising on my lips. However, it often leaves light brown stains on my pillow when used as an overnight treatment. If Lush ever made an exact version of this with white chocolate, I’d be all over it!

Key Lime Pie
This is without a doubt my absolute favourite Lush lip balm (as evident from the photo of its well-loved state). While not as thick and moisturising as Whipstick, its sweet and citrusy lime scent is unbeatable. I love it so much that I often reach for it just for a sniff, for an instant pick-me-up. The only minor downside is that it’s the only Lush lip balm with glitter, as the glitter is too subtle to notice unless examined closely (which no one really does). If anything, the glitter particles can make it feel very slightly gritty on the lips.

Overall, I don’t consider any of the Lush lip balms to be essential unless you absolutely adore the scent. At £7.50 for 12g they’re exactly cheap either. In my opinion, Key Lime Pie is the clear winner, with its delightful sweet lime scent that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else, so I’ll continue to indulge from time to time.
