The Chanel La Base Camélia Fortifying, Protecting, and Smoothing Base Coat (phew, what a long name!) is a true game-changer for your nails. Infused with camellia oil, this base coat is packed with ingredients to strengthen and nourish your nails. With just one application, you’ll notice a visible improvement in the appearance of your nails as it coats them in a shiny protective layer. It also leaves a beautifully rosy and healthy glow.
I put this base coat to the test, and only on the fifth day did I notice my nails chipping, so it’s held up decently well. It gave my nails a shiny appearance and made them look much smoother. You can see from the before and after photos that my nails instantly looked healthier after application. Sometimes my nails feel a bit dry after wearing nail polish for a few days, but I didn’t have this problem with the Chanel base coat.
The oversized brush was easy to use, and even with my shaky hands, I could apply a nice and even coat on my nails. As for the price tag… It’s Chanel, after all, so expect to pay a premium for the name. £28 for a small 13ml bottle is certainly not cheap! But a little goes a long way, and I can see the bottle lasting much longer than other base coats, so it’s definitely worth treating yourself occasionally.
